Red threads, Red Sauce and Bed bugs

Nearly every day our children do or say something that completely cracks me up.  Most of the time, the things they say or do probably wouldn't be as funny to someone else because they don't know the full scope of their idiosyncracies like I do.  But these three things--these I have to share...cause laughing is good for the soul and I do believe your soul is needing some feel goodin' right about now.

First off, my dear 7th grade naive daughter came home from school last week and told me that someone had been caught smoking marinara.

Oh, me.  That red sauce will get you every time.

Secondly, Owen came home last Wednesday night from church with his new red Awana vest.  Owen is all about his threads.  He always has been.  He loves to dress up and sport his new clothes.  So, Thursday morning he came marching downstairs determined to wear that vest to school.  And no one was gonna change that boy's mind.  The oldest came downstairs sporting his red threads too (and some pretty snazzy shoes--kind of  reminds me of Mr. Rogers).  Eric and I--we tend to be a bit more conservative in the clothing department.  They, on the other hand, like a little action in their wardrobe.  Not sure where they get it.

Anyway, couldn't help it.  Had to snap a picture.

Yes, he proudly wore that Awana vest...I got a vehement text in carpool line from another mama-friend thanking me that her son now wants to wear his red Awana vest to school now too!  What can I say?  Trend-setters we are, I guess.

Thirdly, Owen came home the other night telling us that a classmate had bed bugs.

'How do you know?'

'Cause she told us during sharing time and showed us her bites!'

Oh...Well...Wow...

Later, when I was tucking him in he said, 'I guess when _____'s mama tells her 'don't let the bed bugs bite' she really means it.'

Hope your soul is feeling real good now, but not too good...cause you might get accused of smoking marinara.
